DOCTORATE TO NAGATHI AND BYRAPPA

The literary luminary Dr S L Byrappa gets an additional doctorate honor from Mysore University and acclaimed director Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar is also bestowed with honorary doctorate at the 95th annual convocation held at Crawford Hall in Mysuru.

Governor and Chancellor Vajubhai R Vala did honors on Friday morning.  The key note address at this 95th convocation of Mysuru University was addressed by National Research Professor at School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad.

Industrialist Azim Premji was also be conferred was conspicuous by his absence.  It is at this convocation in Mysuru 28 580 students received their degrees.

Santeshivara Lingannaiah Bhyrappa (SL Byrappa) noted novelist born on august 20, 1931 is also winner of 20th Saraswati Sammar award and Sahitya Akademi fellowship. He is author of 24 novels in a career spanning five decades. Vamshavruksha, Tabbaliyu Neenade Magane, Matadana and Nayi Neralu were made as films received rich critical acclaim. The recent one ‘Aavarana’ created record with ten reprint order.

Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar, director, writer, lyricist born in Nagathihalli, Mandya made debut as screenplay writer in Kaadina Benki and later made films like Undu Hoda Kondu Hoda, baa Nalle Madhuchandrake, Kotreshi Kanasu, America Amerca, Hoomale, Amrutha Dhaare, Nagathihalli is MA in Kannada from Mysore University and receives the doctorate from the same University.
